SKIN FIRMING AND PLUMPING SHEA AND ALOE FACE MASK

Though most people are familiar with using raw Shea butter as a moisturizer or healing balm, you can also use Shea butter in a mask. The thick and protective consistency helps to hold the mask together and deliver the active, skin healing ingredients in the mask deeper into the skin. The versatility of the Shea butter also makes it easily mixable with a wide range of therapeutic skincare ingredients so you can tailor your mask to perfectly fit your needs.

Known for its moisture retentive and skin-toning qualities, Aloe Vera is an ideal ingredient to include in your Shea butter skincare masks. The viscous texture helps to thin out the Shea butter a bit, while the skin rejuvenating and tightening polysaccharides synergistically work with the active constituents of the Shea butter. Below is an easy DIY recipe you can make at home for a Shea butter and Aloe Vera face mask. Use it whenever your skin needs some extra love and care.

Recipe:

  • ½ cup Shea butter
  • ¼ cup pure Aloe Vera gel
  • Mixing bowl
  • Hand held electric mixer (optional)

Make sure that your Shea butter is room temperature. In your mixing bowl, mash the Shea butter around with a fork to make it easier to incorporate with the Aloe Vera. When the Shea has been softened a bit, add in your Aloe Vera. At this point, you can either mix it by hand with a wooden spoon, or even the fork you were using, stirring and mashing until both ingredients have been blended together. Or you can use your electric mixer to whip the Aloe and Shea together, which will produce a mask with a lighter and more airy texture. If you use your mixer, it will take a few minutes to completely mix, and the mixture may increase in volume as a result of the whipping. Once you have finished mixing, transfer your mask to a container of choice and store it in a cool and dry place.

This mask is effective yet gentle, and can be used on all different skin types, as both the Aloe and the Shea will help to promote balance and extra healing in the skin. And don’t think you can only use this on your face! This is a great healing mask to use on rough spots, irritations, and sunburns to soothe any discomfort and deliver fast, effective, and truly enjoyable healing.
